Our Mission & Vision

The mission of Wesley United Methodist Church is making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. The vision of our church is looking upward, reaching outward and moving forward.

Leadership Team:

Our leadership team recognizes the authority of God, and realizes that we are shepherds who serve under the Chief Shepherd, Jesus Christ. We desire to devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the Word. Our passion and goal is to equip the believers for the work of the ministry until we all attain maturity in the fullness of Christ.

Pastor Jeff Jaekley, Lead Pastor

Pastor Jeff began his time as lead pastor of Wesley in July 2019 after moving to St. Joe with his wife of 14 years, Lynn, his daughters, Bailey and Kristin, and a menagerie of pets.  He comes to Wesley from the Ozarks where he was a pastorfor 8 years.  He is excited to join the Wesley family in serving the St. Joe community! Pastor Jeff enjoys working on their home here in St. Joe, being outdoors,  spending time with their daughters and he usually has a book or two ready for a free moment. Pastor Jeff has a B.A. in Religion and Christian Education from MidAmerica Nazarene University (1994)
Graduate Studies in Bible, Theology and Pastoral Ministry from Nazarene Theological Seminary (1994-1998)and Master of Divinity (Oddest degree name ever) from Saint Paul School of Theology (2011).

Tracy Lichliter, Administrative Assistant


Tracy is Wesley UMC’s Advanced Certified United Methodist Church Secretary, church notary and she is also the Vice-President of the Missouri Chapter of PAUMCS (Professional Association of United Methodist Church Structure). Tracy has worked at Wesley UMC for 14 years. Tracy loves working here mainly because of the people and enjoys visiting with everyone who comes into the office. Tracy is married to a wonderful man named Curt and has four children: Melissa, Tonya, Jason and a stepson Zach. She has six grandchildren: Caitlyn, Rachel, Gabriel, Anthony, Veronica and Audrey. She believes strongly in what she does and the miracles she sees are amazing. In fact, she has personally witnessed two miracles. She hopes to work at Wesley UMC for many years to come.

Sara Murphy, Coordinator of Children’s Ministries

Sara has worked at Wesley UMC for 4 years. She started  in the nursery  and has worked her way up to teaching Kidvision. She has a passion for teaching children because they are our future. Sara is a part of a little family of 3; her boyfriend Austin, their son Walker and their dog Miley. Sara graduated from Missouri Western State University with a B.S. in Psychology and is attending Capella University to obtain her MS in Psychology with specializations in      Child/Adolescent Development and Education Psychology.
