Our Mission & Vision

The mission of Wesley United Methodist Church is making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. The vision of our church is looking upward, reaching outward and moving forward.

Leadership Team:

Our leadership team recognizes the authority of God, and realizes that we are shepherds who serve under the Chief Shepherd, Jesus Christ. We desire to devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the Word. Our passion and goal is to equip the believers for the work of the ministry until we all attain maturity in the fullness of Christ.

Pastor Jim Barnett, Lead Pastor

Pastor Jim is currently serving his 26th year as the Lead Pastor of the Wesley Church as appointed by the Bishop of the Missouri Area Conference of the United Methodist Church. He and his wife Julie have been married for 33 years and have 2 children, 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Pastor Jim and Julie are very involved in the life of Wesley and the ministry they have been called to. Pastor Jim preaches and teaches from the Holy Scriptures leading folks to be all they can be for Jesus Christ. He believes that all Christians are ministers and encourages the congregation to follow the mission statement; To Make Disciples of Jesus Christ for the Transformation of the World. His favorite Scripture is Matthew 28:19-20;Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Pastor Jim also serves the United Methodist Church as a member of the Northwest District Committee on Ministry, the Missouri Conference Board of Ordained Ministry, and he Chairs the Fellowship of Local Pastors and Associate Members for the Missouri Area Conference of the United Methodist Church.
