WHAT WE BELIEVE
What is our Mission Statement?

At Wesley UMC we believe in MAKING DISCIPLES OF JESUS CHRIST FOR THE TRANFORMATION OF THE WORLD!

  1. We are to make disciples of the world
  2. We believe in the Great Commission found in Matthew 28:19-20

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

  1. We believe in the Great Commandment found in Matthew 22:36-40

“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

  1. We proclaim the Gospel, seek, welcome and gather persons into the body of Christ
  2. We believe in Open Minds, Open Hearts, and Open Doors
  3. “Do all the good you can. By all the means you can. In all the ways you can. In all the places you can. At all the times you can. To all the people you can. As long as ever you can.” – John Wesley

What is our Vision Statement?

LOOKING UPWARD, REACHING OUTWARD, AND GOING FORWARD

  1. Looking Upward
    1. We will keep our eyes on God and trust in Him
      1. Matthew 6:33 – “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
      2. Proverbs 3:5-6 – “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
  2. Reaching Outward
    1. We will bring Jesus to others. We will follow the commandments and be the disciples we were called to be.
      1. John 13:34-35 – “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
      2. Hebrews 13:16 – “And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”
  3. Going Forward
    1. By going forward in Christ we are willing to follow Him and trust in His plan for us.
      1. Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
      2. Hebrews 12:1 – “let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.”
